About the Truman Club

The mission of the Harry S Truman Democratic Club of Greater Sacramento (affectionately known as “The Truman Club”) is to promote Democratic collegiality, candidates, measures and issues within the Sacramento Metropolitan Statistical Area (or as we think of it, Greater Sacramento).

Since 1981, The Truman Club has been a leading voice for Democrats in the Sacramento area.

We are committed to maintaining and increasing local Democratic representation by supporting qualified incumbents and developing a new generation of Democratic leaders.

Our diverse Executive Board membership includes people from all walks of life, backgrounds, ages, opinions, and neighborhoods. Through their leadership and financial support, The Truman Club promotes Democratic Party principles and candidates in the Sacramento region.

At least four times each year, The Truman Club gathers Democrats together for a luncheon to hear from thought leaders on issues ripped from headlines and elected officials doing the work to represent us at the federal, state, and local level. The Truman Club gives people the opportunity to gather and share Democratic Party ideas, platforms, and beliefs with community leaders.

Recently, we’ve heard from Senator Barbara Boxer, Congressmembers Matsui, Bera, Garamendi, and Thompson, Governor Newsom, Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis, Assemblymember Krell, Sacramento Supervisors Kennedy and Serna, and Sacramento Mayors Steinberg and McCarty. We’ve heard from non-politicians like cartoonist Jack Ohman, political pundits Carol Dahman and Andrew Acosta, and college professor ____.

Come join us! We’re a friendly group!
