Sweeping Victories for Truman Endorsed Candidates

95%Congratulations to all of our endorsed candidates. With two Sacramento Council races still too close to call, 18 of our 19 other endorsed candidates (for existing offices) were victorious on November 6th. We enjoyed sweeping Democratic victories across the region, the state and the nation.

Our community is lucky that such talented leaders stepped up to take on the challenges facing the region, but we are confident folks like Ami Bera, Ken Cooley and Michael Picker will add to the fantastic leadership we have received from folks like John Garamendi, Doris Matsui, Mariko Yamada, Roger Dickinson, Richard Pan and Nancy Bui and that our best days in the Sacramento region are yet to come.

Darrell Steinberg “The Election. What happened. Why it happened. What now?”

Join us as Senate President Pro Tempore breaks down the results of November’s elections. California Democrats are pushing for a 2/3 majority in the legislature, while voters will decide 11 separate ballot measures and the impacts of redistricting and primary reform play out across the state. Senator Steinberg will give us the inside scoop on what happened, why and where we go from here.

Dave Jones and Diana Dooley in “Everything you ever wanted to know about health care reform in California”

Everything? Well, a lot.

As our new Insurance Commissioner, Dave has quickly reaffirmed his national healthcare reputation with accomplishments like requiring that 80% or more of health insurance premiums go toward actual health care, requiring insurers to cover pre-existing
conditions in children, issuing guidance to implement federal healthcare reform, and reducing medical malpractice rates.

As Secretary of California Health & Human Services, Diana is Jerry Brown’s pit bull on healthcare (she doesn’t look like one, does she?). Since taking charge of the state’s healthcare agency, she has tackled a wide variety of health projects, the most recent being the setting up of the Governor’s GET HEALTHY CALIFORNIA task force, an ambitious 10-year plan for improving the health care of all Californians.
